Where more is done, more cooling is usually required

New week, new rumor about the Nintendo Switch 2: Allegedly, the console is to receive a fan in the docking station. The charging power could also be increased

This is why it’s important:The Nintendo Switch 2 is said to have a significant performance boost compared to its seven-year-old predecessor.

This upgrade needs to be properly cooled.

In detail: User Necrolipe was one of the first to report on X/Twitter that the Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a 60-watt charger and a fan in the docking station.

  • In the meantime, theFamiboard forumsare also discussing the leak, which they consider likely.
  • In particular, data that is exchanged between factories and assembly plants is mentioned here.

This fan has been the subject of discussion before: Rumors about it first surfaced last month.

  • Then as now, the background to this fan is the increased performance that Nintendo wants to deliver with the Switch 2, primarily when docked.
  • The increased performance requires a corresponding cooling system – at the same time, Nintendo allegedly dispenses with such a fan in handheld mode!

The 60-watt charger, meanwhile, is also seen as an indication of the Switch 2’s performance

  • The (still) current Nintendo Switch has a charger with a charging capacity of 36 watts.
  • Of these, however, only up to 19 watts reach the system. The introduction of a fast-charging function is also conceivable.

From the rumors about the charging power, a confirmation is now being constructed in the above Famiboard forums that the Switch 2 will at least be equipped with DLSS upscaling.

  • The simple argument behind it: Why else would Nintendo need astronger charger?
  • Whether this rumor, like the many others before it, will come true, we will probably find out in six months at the latest anyway: The Switch 2 is to be presented by March 2025.
