No kidding: The Sims is really going to be a movie – and Margot Robbie is apparently involved

Sul sul! The Sims are actually coming to the big screen soon, as Electronic Arts has now officially announced.

Next year, Electronic Arts will celebrate an important milestone:; 25 years of The Sims.; Now the simlischen residents venture into new territory. As early as March 2024, the first rumors were heard on Variety that Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap was working on a film adaptation.

And it’s really true: a The Sims movie is in the works!

Whether Margot Robbie herself will play a role in the adaptation, remains questionable, but would not be completely outlandish. It is quite likely that Robbie will be present not only behind the camera, as she was for Barbie, but also in front of it.

Incidentally, EA is also teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios and Vertigo Entertainment for the production. This means that the project is being worked on at full speed.

Laura Miele, head of EA Entertainment, said in an interview with Variety that the work “should be proof of the continued power of this beloved series”

EA’s Vice President and Managing Director Kate Gorman also reports that they want to “bring an authentic Die-Sims experience to the cinemas.” Electronic Arts has big plans for the project and has set itself the goal of creating something that connects all generations and is even “culturally relevant”.

In the cinematic experience, the long history of the game, as well as the personal stories of players and fans, should go hand in hand. We don’t yet know exactly how Electronic Arts plans to do this.

Gorman promises fans some Easter eggs such as “a pool without a ladder” or “Freezer Bunnies.” Nevertheless, the movie should also give non-fans the opportunity to better understand the Sims universe.

Electronic Arts has big plans for the movie. We are excited to see how they will implement their visions and what the plot will include exactly. But one thing is clear: we will be hearing a lot about the project over the next few years!
