The turn strategy hit and Civ competitor will soon no longer be Epic-exclusive and the first addon will be free for the Steam release. But not forever.

Old World was released quite a while ago – but not on Steam. That changes on 19 May 2022, making the turn-based strategy hit no longer Epic-exclusive. In addition, the first major addon will be given away, but only for a short time. We give you all the info you need to know about the Steam release and the free promotion around Old World.

When will Old World be available on Epic and GOG?

Old World lands on Steam and GOG on 19 May 2022. This means that the title by developer Mohawk Games is no longer Epic-exclusive since its Early Access release in May 2020. By the way, Linux support is also available at the same time.

What you should know about the first Old World addon

With Heroes of the Aegean, Old World is getting its first, big addon. This expands the turn-based strategy hit with six new scenarios that focus on Ancient Greece. Players take control of commanders from Greek history – such as Leonidas or Alexander the Great.

It is not yet known exactly when Heroes of the Aegean will be released. However, the release should fall in the period around the release on Steam and GOG. Of course, it’s particularly tempting for fans: in the first two weeks after the release of Heroes of the Aegean, the add-on is free. But you’ll have to get a move on, because after the deadline you’ll be asked to pay for the DLC again.

You can get a first impression of Heroes of the Aegean in the trailer for the Old World expansion, which is currently available exclusively from our colleagues at IGN:
