Broken Arrow is currently attracting some strategy fans who are interested in modern military. You can compete against each other for free with tanks, jets and more.

Already more than 16,000 simultaneous players have plunged into the battles of Broken Arrow, according to SteamDB. The upcoming real-time strategy game is currently letting interested parties compete against each other in a playtest, and they can hardly wait for the full release.

What exactly is Broken Arrow?

The RTS is particularly convincing with a level of realism that few representatives of the genre achieve. Your units move to the front by land, sea and air, with factions limited to the USA and Russia.

The two factions are further divided into five individual specializations, so Broken Arrow shouldn’t get boring.

The correct release date of the game is still uncertain: So far, the developers have been talking about 2025, but nothing more specific is known.

This is what’s in the playtest: The current pre-release version is limited to the multiplayer part of Broken Arrow. Although single-player campaigns are planned for the finished game, they are not yet playable. Instead, tanks, war helicopters and more go head to head in 5v5 matches.

If you want to participate, all you have to do is go to the Steam page for Broken Arrow and click on Take part in the Broken Arrow Playtest the green button Request access and you’re ready to go.

What the players say

Of course there are no Steam reviews for a playtest, but some players are already exchanging thoughts on Reddit.twaid45…] is absolutely thrilled about the beta and is looking forward to playing more games next year than any other:

The artwork is accurate and cool. […] I can’t wait for the full release. […] As soon as they get the server problems under control, it’s going to be so great. This is the only game I want next year.

Me too.joe_dirty365

Yes, it’s great. I’m really looking forward to more balanced lobbies, as some of them feel like a kick in the teeth. I wish they’d just release it in early access…

By the way, the fact that the battles feel so realistic is not only due to the more than 500 military units: the battlefields are also based on real locations.

The developers have not revealed how long the current playtest will last or whether further playtests will follow. However, we will of course keep you up to date with any new information about the release or a further beta phase for Broken Arrow.
