Even after four years, the developers of Insurgency Sandstorm don”t stop providing the game with free content.

An excellent military shooter makes no bones about slowing down the pace. We”re talking about Insurgency Sandstorm, which scraped 90 points in our test and is still getting free new content four years after release.

The developers at New World Interactive regularly release new Operations that bring maps, modes, weapons and cosmetic items. Most recently, they added Counter-Strike-style bomb disposal, now followed by Operation Accolade, which brings a new map, Lastlight, to the tactical shooter.

And there is even more in Update 1.14. We give you an overview of the most important new features. If you want to get an impression of the game first!

New map, weapons and more

The main new content for Insurgency Sandstorm is:

New Game World: The map Lastlight is once again set in the Middle East scenario and revolves around a winding coastal city characterised by numerous closely spaced buildings and tourism. As usual, it works for both co-op and PvP modes.

Here you can see the new map:

New weapons: The two new assault rifles MDR (security forces) and SG 552 (insurgents) complete the weapon repertoire of the hardcore shooter.

In our 2021 review update, find out how the game evolved from a once problem-plagued release to a flagship title in the tactical military shooter genre.

The developers are also changing the balance of the relatively new Bomb Defusal mode with update 1.14 by adjusting the layouts of the maps for the mode. Details and images can be found in the (Blogpost) on Steam.

Also, Operation Accolade brings new free-to-play cosmetic items and clothing sets as well as paid DLC sets for Insurgency Sandstorm.

The persistent effort put in by the developers at New World Interactive is particularly remarkable, as the player base remains relatively manageable with four-digit simultaneously active users. Nevertheless, it seems to be worth it – also for the fans.
