Release: When does season 2 of One Piece start?

Netflix has announced on all social media platforms that the film crew has come together for the filming of season 2 in South Africa.

Whats on Netflix reportsalso that filming is expected to continue until January 2025. We can therefore assume that Season 2 will set sail in late summer 2025 However, there is no exact start date yet

Story: You can expect these arcs in season 2

Season 1 focused on the East Blue Saga, in which Ruffy recruits the majority of his pirate crew. The season culminated in Arlong Park, where we were introduced to Nami’s backstory. Attentive One Piece fans will have immediately noticed that the East Blue saga doesn’t end there. This is where season 2 comes in

Spoiler alert! In season 2, our Straw Hat Gang travels toLoguetown, the last town before the Grand Line. It’s not just any town, however, but the birthplace and place of execution of the pirate king Gol D Rogers, who we know from both the legendary anime intro and the prologue to the Netflix series.

Of course, our favorite pirates can’t just stroll through the alleys. Where would be the suspense? The gang meets up with Smoker and Tashigi, two marines who are stationed in Loguetown and want to get their hands on the pirates.

But they’re not the only ones Ruffy and co have to deal with. The first season finale suggests that we will see old acquaintances again:Clown BuggyandAlvidaare after the bounty of the Straw Hats.

Season 2 will also deal with the Alabasta saga. In it, theBaroque Companyinitially stands in the way of the troupe. The group is led by Sir Crocodile, also known as Mr. 0. But not only enemies cross paths with the Straw Hat Gang. Manga creator Eiichirō Oda himself confirmed that we can look forward to seeing the ship’s doctor Tony Tony Chopper

in season 2, who joins the troupe in the Drum Island arc.

Rumor: Will we meet this fan favorite?

Big shoots like the one for One Piece naturally don’t go undetected. Especially when the sets include large structures such as ships, it can happen that information comes to light prematurely. This is proven by a Twitter post in which fans discovered the Ship of the Rumbar Piratesin South Africa.

Part of the Rumbar Pirates isBrook, who actually appears much later in the manga. So it could be that we get a premature glimpse of the bony musician.

It seems likely that the spotted ship will be part of a flashback. It will focus on the friendship between the Rumbar crew and the whale La Boum, which the Straw Hats encounter on their way to the Grand Line. What exactly awaits us, however, we will probably only find out when the season is released.

Cast: What does the cast of season 2 look like?

Of course, our favorite pirates will stay with us and we will see a number of cast members from season 1 again. But Netflix has also announced a lot of new additions for the sequel

Since it is already clear that Tony Tony Chopper will join the Straw Hats in season 2, it can be assumed that his background story will also play a role. An important part of this story is Dr. Kureha and One Piece fanswant a very specific castfor this role.

(Dr. Kureha is a small but important key character in Chopper's backstory. Image source: Toei Animation)

Jamie-Lee Curtiswould be a perfect fit for the role of the eccentric doctor and, as the pirate gods would have it, the Oscar-winner is even keen to portray Chopper’s mentor herself. Unfortunately, it has not yet been officially confirmed that this fan dream will come true. So for now, it’s a case of keeping calm and waiting

Whatever the final cast looks like, we can hardly wait to finally set sail again and head for the Grand Line. If you want to sweeten the wait, click on the links in the box above for more info on the live-action adaptation of One Piece.
