Free transmog, new endgame, buffs for all classes and the announcement of the first expansion: That’s what’s in the update New Horizon.
At the time of its release in April 2021, Outriders was playing in the big leagues in terms of player numbers. In the meantime, the loot shooter is languishing at an average of 600 simultaneously active Steam players. There has hardly been any exciting news in recent months. But whoever thinks that Outriders is as good as buried is wrong!
Square Enix has now introduced the huge, free content offensive “New Horizon”. And in it there are a lot of innovations that fans have long wished for. For example, Transmog, new end-game missions, changes to legendary loot and the classes. And the first big DLC is waiting in the wings for 2022. We have all the important information for you in the overview.

This is what’s in the huge update for Outriders
Endgame 2.0
The developers have rebuilt the Endgame and made many important changes so that you can have a lot of fun with Outriders even on high levels. One of them is that the timer no longer runs during expeditions. Until now, the faster you complete an expedition, the better the rewards you get. However, this led to almost all characters being focused purely on damage per second. With the new system, much more freedom in class building should be possible.
Four new expeditions will also be added to give you new content. The rewards for completing these high-level missions have been extensively adjusted.
Gift Legendary Equipment
To celebrate the big update, everyone who logs into Outridersuntil 30 November 2021 will get a free piece of legendary armour packed into their inventory. By the way, this applies to both brand new players and those returning. It can take 24 hours for the armour to show up in your inventory.
And there is also good news on the legendary items front: In one of the new expeditions, you will be able to choose between three legendaries at the end instead of only receiving one at random. And in Tiago’s shop you can reroll Legendary offerings (costs resources).
Transmog for all
Fans have been shouting it from the corrugated iron roofs since the release: a transmog system is needed! And now this wish has come true. You can now give all weapons and armour the appearance of another item of the same type. So if you’ve found a pair of trousers that have really great stats but don’t match your polished outfit at all, you simply choose a cooler legwear and then give it the new status effects.
With weapons, this even transfers the sound of one gun to the other. You unlock the appearance of an item as soon as you find it – for all your characters, not just the outrider whose inventory contains the item. Transmog costs you no resources or in-game currency and can be done at any time. When will we see the first fashion show in Outriders?
More important changes
There’s more to the update, as Square Enix reveals in a (blog post). Here’s a summary of the most important new features:
- Skills and equipment for all four classes of Outriders have been buffed. This should make skills feel powerful that were previously ignored by many. Your Outriders have become significantly stronger overall since launch!
- Crossplay between all platforms is now possible, including Stadia. In addition, connections are now said to be more stable!
- For console players, there are more settings for controls and so on.
- The intro can finally be skipped!
The first DLC is coming! Also announced is the first major expansion called “Worldslayer”. There’s not much info yet, except that the DLC will be released in 2022 and will include new areas, story, quests and more. How much the addon will cost is not yet known. And whether an offline mode will ever come is also written in the stars.
By the way, Outriders is also in the Xbox Game Pass for PC since 19 October 2021. On Steam it is still reduced from 60 to 20 euros until 24 November 2021.
Are the new features and gifts tempting you back to Enoch? Or maybe you’ll soon try Outriders for the first time?
