Destiny 2 is back on top. But the joy over the launch of The Final Shape was marred by many problems

It was almost as much as the all-time high on February 28, 2023: Yesterday’s launch of the latest DLC The Finale Shape for the long-term shooter Destiny 2 has, according toSteamDB314,634 Guardianssimultaneously active players on PC and Steam only. The current peak is only around 2,000 players higher and dates back to the release of the DLC Lightfall in February 2023

The Final Shape concludes the current story arc ofDestiny 2and many fans didn’t want to miss it. But while the shooter only just missed out on a new Steam record, there were numerous technical problems at launch.

In final, but not necessarily top form

Last night, developer Bungie took the Destiny 2 servers offline for some time to launch The Final Shape. But even when the technology started up again, many people were unable to get into the game or had to deal with bugs

Bad reviews:In theuser reviews on Steamthere is a lot of criticism about the DLC. While some report login problems and disconnections, many players report that the cutscenes are interrupted or not played at all.

This leads to parts of the story being missed. However, the missions can be replayed to catch up on the sequences. The problems are reflected in the ratings, which are currently only positive to38 percent

This is another parallel to Lightfall. Even today, the DLC still has 30 percent positive reviews and was criticized for its weak and confusing story despite the record.

Bungie is already remedying the situation

Via X, formerly Twitter, Bungie published an apologythat very nightand also reported on the problems that have already been fixed.
