The Legacy of Phrecia event in Path of Exile introduces 19 new Ascendancy classes and replaces the Atlas Passive Tree with a new endgame system.
It’s no secret that Path of Exile 2 is currently absorbing most of Grinding Gear Games’ attention and development time. As a result, the original version of Path of Exile has had to take a back seat in recent months.
But not to leave the community out in the cold, the studio has quickly organized a huge eventfrom scratch – and it’s a doozy!

Overview of all 19 new classes
Instead of the usual Ascendancy classes, the Legacy of Phrecia event offers a completely new selection of specializations. These are based on ideas that GGG has collected over the years but never integrated into the main game. Now they get their big stage.
You can get a first look at the classes in the event trailer:
Table of Contents
Ranger
- Daughter of Oshabi: As Azmeri, she reveres nature—especially the forest. She uses the powers of the Warden of the Maji, draws strength from shrines, or uses Sacred Wisps to enhance Wand attacks.
- Whisperer: A descendant of Inya of the Pale Court. She travels silently and augments her attacks with arcane powers. Many of her abilities benefit from high levels of magic.
- Wildspeaker:; a follower of the First Ones, animalistic gods of Ezomyte mythology. You can choose the aspect of Farrul, the First of the Plains, or Saqawal, the First of the Skies.
Marauder
- Antiquarian: A Karui collector from Ngakanu Harbor who has acquired valuable artifacts over the years. You can use relics of the Kalguur, Karui talismans of legendary chiefs, or equipment from General Marceus Lioneye.
- Behemoth: Magick and its practitioners are anathema to him. The real fight is direct and brutal. The longer you stay in the fight, the stronger you become – with Rampage, Fortify and Rage.
- Ancestral Commander:;A Marauder who calls upon the spirits of his Karui ancestors to protect him in battle and strike down foes.
Shadow
- Surfcaster: A relaxed guy who feels connected to the sea. He has a mastery of the elements cold and lightning and, as an experienced fisherman, can receive enormous bonuses – provided you can find him a fishing rod.
- Servant of Arakaali: Devoted to the dark spider goddess herself, he serves her cause. You can summon spiders as combat companions or assume the aspect of the spider to trap enemies in webs.
- Blind Prophet: Blind since childhood, this prophet has sharpened his other senses. Worshipping an ominous underground power, he commands powerful projectile attacks, stealth mechanics, and curses.
Witch
- Harbinger:; a master of time magic who manipulates the fabric of reality. You can summon Harbinger pets from another dimension – and fly and be blue as a bonus.
- Herald: She foresees disaster – hopefully only for her enemies. Instead of auras, she uses enhanced herald skills that do far more than just buff.
- Bog Shaman: A hermit who hides in the swamps, far from tainted civilization. Daily poison consumption gives her powerful abilities – at the cost of minor side effects.
Duelist
- Gambler: Perfect for those who like to take risks. The Gambler specializes in luck and big wins – or a deep fall into ruin.
- Paladin:; a righteous warrior dedicated to protecting his allies. He uses link and aura abilities as well as taunts to keep enemies away from his comrades.
- Aristocrat:Born in Oriath with a silver spoon in his mouth, the Aristocrat received the finest education. He starts with more passive skill points than any other class.
Templar
- Architect of Chaos: A would-be Vaal architect who experiments with the deepest secrets of Chaos. Many of his abilities come at a cost, but he benefits greatly from Vaal skills and Corrupted items.
- Polytheist: After a crisis of faith, this templar now worships multiple deities from Wraeclast’s pantheon. You can use the powers of different gods for yourself.
- Puppeteer: He has broken the sacred laws and experimented with the undead. His goal: to control an army of fleshless puppets.
Scion
- Scavenger: A scavenger who sees incredible value in the remains of other exiles. But she can’t carry everything – so she has to choose wisely.
During the event, you can change your Ascendancy class, which is not normally possible in Path of Exile. This opens up many possibilities for experimentation.
A breath of fresh air for the endgame
In addition to the new classes, the event also revises the endgame: The Atlas Passive Tree system is temporarily replaced by the new Idol system Idols can be placed in a special user interface to modify maps.
Whether this system will be added to the main game after the event remains to be seen – but GGG has already hinted that parts of it might be playable in future private leagues.
