It”s that time again: PoE will start a new season in April. And this monster of an action role-playing game is actually getting more complex!

The Diablo 4 beta is over, but action RPG fans are about to be served the next highlight: The big competitor Path of Exile namely starts on 7 April 2023 in its new season.

As always, the new league called Crucible includes a lot of brand new features and new mechanics. We summarise the most important points of the 24-minute livestream for you.

PoE actually gets more complex with Crucible!

With the new league, everything in PoE will be reset to zero – the perfect time to get into action role-playing to pass the time until Diablo 4!

But not only the always popular reset at the start of the season should get you on board, there are also many new features. You can watch them in motion in the trailer:

The seasonal mechanics can be seen this time around:As if the huge talent tree wasn”t enough, weapons now get their own skill trees as well. These trees offer bonuses to improve or enhance your characters” playstyle

The talents in the trees require experience from Crucible encounters to unlock. In these battles, you will first select a weapon, which you will connect to an Ancient Forge to upgrade.

As you channel your weapons, molten monsters appear in keeping with the forge setting, which can combine to create larger and more fearsome foes. The encounters are divided into several waves. With each wave, you gain more experience points for your weapon, but the risk of dying and losing the progress you”ve accumulated also increases.

For true professionals, the Forge of Titan is a new area in the endgame that allows you to combine multiple talent trees on one weapon – creating weapons of unimaginable power

What else is going on? As always, there are (many other changes) besides the new season mechanics. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Atlas Gateways: These nodes allow instant traversal between two points in the Atlas talent tree, reducing the number of travel points needed and thus allowing you to focus on specific areas in the tree.
  • Breach/Abyss: Reworked the mechanics of the two older leagues you can encounter again in the endgame.
  • Masteries: About half of all masteries have been reworked, giving the previously dominant builds a good shake-up.

We think: Path of Exile is brilliant in many ways and more than just a pastime to bridge the wait until Diablo 4. Will you also play the new season? Or are you currently spending your time with the also excellent Last Epoch? Feel free to drop us a line in the comments!
