The free Diablo rival Path of Exile is currently enjoying an enormous increase in players. The reason for this is the new update Crucible.

The action role-playing game Path of Exile seems to have hit a nerve: After the Diablo 4 beta, people might have been diligently looking for replacements, so the free game released a fat update just at the right time. The success is hard to miss, after all, the number of players has increased tenfold from one day to the next.

According to (SteamDB) on 8 April, 211,000 people logged into Path of Exile from the previous 22,000 players. If all platforms are added together, there were even over 320,000 concurrent players, as the developers announced on Twitter. With this, the title has also surpassed its previous player record by around 50,000 players

In the meantime, the numbers have moved down a bit, but with almost 130,000 players on Steam, the servers are still well-filled. The Diablo 4 beta, however, could also boast impressive numbers.

What”s in the update?

Obviously, the new update called Crucible has it all. One of the most important new features is the skill trees that are now available for individual weapons. With this, the game offers even more bonuses to improve your characters. To get them, however, you have to prove your skills in so-called Crucible encounters, which pit you against challenging bosses.

But there are also nine new skills for Vaal, end-game enhancements, revamped masteries and much more.

Will you check out Path of Exile again and see how much has changed, or does the only relevant action role-playing game for you bear the name Diablo 4? And what is still missing from Path of Exile so that you don”t get lost when the highly anticipated Blizzard game is released? Feel free to write it in the comments!
