Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – When is the test for the giant role-playing game coming?

Pathfinder 2, like its predecessor, is a huge role-playing game that you can spend half a lifetime playing. That’s one of the reasons why we’re not publishing a review with a rating today.

This week sees the release of one of the most important role-playing games of the entire year! Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is the indirect successor to the highly acclaimed Pathfinder: Kingmaker, which role-playing aficionados should definitely not have missed. For here slumbers the true spirit of Baldur’s Gate.

Wrath of the Righteous is scheduled for release on 2 September. And with such a promising role-playing game, it goes without saying that we want to take a close look at it and publish an extensive review.

But now to the point: Actually, we should have been able to publish a review with a rating and everything else today. But we have to put you off for the time being.

Now, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is such a massive role-playing game that those 70 hours weren’t enough to reach the sixth and final act. For a final evaluation, however, we consider it necessary to at least get close to the end of the main story.

By the way, if you already want a few impressions, I have enriched the gallery with a few screenshots from the test version:

Reason number 2: Bugs

There is another reason why we are holding back with a test and a final rating for the time being. Because there were still some bugs in the test version of Wrath of the Righteous. Some of them were quite severe (gamebreakers). We therefore consider it very unlikely that Wrath of the Righteous will be released in a technically flawless state.

Important! We are not saying here yet that the role-playing game will be catastrophically broken at release. The developers are already busy patching and there will almost certainly be a day-one patch. We’ll take another look at the state of the game shortly after release and adjust the rating accordingly.

What happens now?

The plan is simple. First, I’m going to put more time into Pathfinder 2 and play until I can give it a first rating with a clear conscience. At the moment we are aiming for the first four acts. Most likely, however, this will not be a final rating. When will that be?

We currently expect to have a test ready for you before the weekend. Unless something else goes drastically wrong before Friday. This will also allow us to take another look at the release version of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous before the final review and assess whether it has improved significantly technically compared to the test version. Here are the things we want to find out before the test:

– Does the story build towards an exciting and satisfying finale?

– How clearly do decisions affect the later course of the game?

– How much game time is left in the final acts?

– Is the balance right even on the normal difficulty level or are we running into a wall?

– Do we encounter more serious bugs?

– How bug-free is the release version?

– To play through the whole thing and give a final rating, we need a little more time. Don’t expect a final score until next week at the earliest.

Thanks in any case for your patience! If you’re still waiting for our assessment before buying, we don’t want to leave you hanging by the weekend

But in conclusion, if you’re up for Wrath of the Righteous, you’d best spend more time at a stretch! This thing is big!
