In Occupy Mars: The Game you have to build a Mars colony as an astronaut. The release on Steam is now imminent
In Occupy Mars: The Game you land all alone on the eponymous red planet and must single-handedly build an entire colony.
Sounds challenging? It is! If you’ve read Dimi’s preview, you know that you’re in for perhaps the toughest survival game in a long time.
About four years after its first announcement, the title finally has a release date, and it’s supposed to start in just a few days.
Soon you can build your Mars colony
As announced by the developers (on Steam) Occupy Mars will be released on Steam, Epic and GOG on May 10, 2023. For the upcoming release, however, there are a few things you should keep in mind
For the time being, the game will only be available as an Early Access version. How long this phase should last, the developers have not yet revealed.
Also the contents, which you will be able to play in about two weeks, are not yet finalized.
The developers shared the following via Steam:
Our team is currently finalizing the list of features that will be available in the Early Access version, which we will publish in our next devlog. All other features will be unlocked in the next updates
We are working hard to ensure a smooth release of the game. That’s also why we’ve paused our weekly streams lately – to focus 100% on bringing you the Early Access build.
What kind of game is this anyway? If you haven’t heard of Occupy Mars yet, let’s recap what it’s all about.
In this survival game from controversial publisher Playway, you’ll land on Mars as a lone astronaut. Your goal will be to make the colonization of the planet possible.
To do this, in typical survival game fashion, you’ll have to collect massive amounts of resources and build a base. While in many other titles of the same genre often only food, temperatures and diseases threaten your life, in Occupy Mars many more obstacles await you.
Not only do you have to provide water and food on the desert planet, but you also have to generate electricity and oxygen.
According to the developers, you’ll also have to pay attention to your sleep rhythm – if you don’t sleep in, you’ll start the day with reduced health points – almost like in real life.
