For days, the shooter Unrecord has been hotly debated. Is this thing fake? Can it really be game graphics? The developers are happy: On Steam, the title shoots through the roof.
The upcoming shooter Unrecord has already caught the attention of very, very many people long before a release date can even be estimated. Now the developers have announced a number on Twitter that stuns:
More than 600,000 people have put the title on their Steam Wishlist within a week. That’s enough for 22nd place on the corresponding ranking, and that’s virtually thanks to a single video – this must be what efficient marketing looks like.
The developers thank you very much in the following and promise to do everything to deliver the project in the best possible way.
Over 600,000 wishlists on Steam in one week! We are deeply honored by this success and will give our all to deliver the best for this project. Thank you for your support. 🎉Unrecord pic.twitter.com/yAI0Cersh6

By the way, the results of our survey on Unrecord so far are in line with the tenor of this message: Almost half of the more than 1300 votes cast indicate a high level of anticipation among our community. And almost every third person is at least cautiously optimistic about the recently much discussed title. Only about 15 percent are averse.
Why all the attention?
Unrecord wants to let you slip into the skin of a police officer – literally: perspective, movement, the shooting, lighting effects, blurs, all this and more is tailored to let you follow the action as realistically as possible through a bodycam.
The problem: It simply looks too good. Quite a few users at our site or even on social media have expressed suspicions that the game is a fake, everything is simply filmed with a camera and post-processed. If you haven’t seen the trailer that set all this off, you can do so here:
I don’t think anyone likes to be accused of being a gang of scammers . That will be no different with the Unrecord makers called Drama with their debut work, and yet: all the attention – whether positively or negatively motivated – shows how uncontrollably successful games marketing can go down.
What’s your take on Unrecord? Do you want to get up close and personal as a cop as soon as the game comes out? Or does the thought of the special camera perspective make you nauseous? And are you convinced of the game’s authenticity or do you still have doubts that the developers’ recent offensive couldn’t dispel? Feel free to write us your views in the comments!
