Thanks to an Xbox Series S, a gamer gets away with just a broken leg in a serious car accident.

Guardian angels really are white, at least for a gamer from the r/xbox subreddit. He shares a story about how his Xbox Series S probably saved his life in a traffic accident.

This Xbox Series S saved my life guys…
byu/Jonzey2282 inxbox

That’s what happened: Jonzey2282, the name of the user who is very active in the Xbox community on Reddit, was riding his bike home from his local GameStop. In his backpack: an Xbox Series S. As he was crossing a busy street, he collided with a truck.

At first, the gamer was able to stay above the bumper, but was eventually dragged under the truck. His backpack tore open; the Xbox and controller tumbled out – and that was his luck.

Instead of hitting the asphalt with his head, Jonzey slammed into the plastic casing of the Xbox (he wasn’t wearing a helmet, as he himself admits), which cushioned the impact. Otherwise, he could have lost consciousness and the accident could have been fatal. The console probably also protected his back.

In the end, the player escaped with a broken foot and a few abrasions – and an Xbox that still works.

As he himself writes, the console boots up without any problems, even though the chassis is tattered and even broken. You can see this in the images in the Reddit post, which also show the torn sweater.

Real or fake? In principle, it’s easy to make up a story like this, but in this case the whole thing seems authentic to us, if only because of the pictures. The user is also active in Xbox communities on Reddit, which underlines his credibility.

The community is happy and grateful

We can only agree with the top comment with almost two thousand upvotes:

I’m glad you’re okay!

The community is joining in with this sentiment, because this accident could have been fatal.

Because the controller was badly damaged (and probably because, depending on the country in which the Redditor lives, there are additional treatment costs), another user offers to send Jonzey a new controller.

If it arrives in time, he can hopefully play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in good health.

We can only agree with the response of a third Redditor on this:

Send him a helmet instead.

Other commenters also blow the same horn, telling stories from their lives in which bicycle helmets have already protected against injuries (or not).

Other commentators point out that Jonzey hopefully called the police so that the insurance company would step in. They suspect the inattentive driver was at fault.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has also become aware of the story and is giving the player with the guardian angel a new Xbox.

The player was lucky to have the Xbox Series S in his backpack. Otherwise, the accident might not have ended in his favor. Hopefully he’ll wear a bike helmet in the future.

Do you think this story is true? Have you experienced something similar? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
