Ghost of Yotei (Ghost of Tsushima 2)
- Genre: Action-Adventure
- Developer: Sucker Punch
- Release: 2025
The sequel to Ghost of Tsushima is set in historical Japan again, but a good 300 years later. Logically, we control a new main character, the wandering warrior Atsu. In Ghost of Yotei, she roams what is now Hokkaido, which at that time was not yet under the orderly rule of the samurai.
In the first trailer, it was already clear that Atsu apparently also has a connection to certain animals – what foxes were for Jin Sakai, are probably wolves for her. Of course, Atsu also has more modern weapons at her disposal, such as a rifle or the Kusarigama chain weapon.
In 2020, Ghost of Tsushima introduced us to one of the most beautiful open worlds to date. And Ghost of Yotei will probably surpass its predecessor – a must-play game for Japan fans and anyone who loves open worlds and complex combat systems.
Death Stranding 2
- Genre: Action-Adventure
- Developer: Kojima Productions
- Release: 2025
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will be released sometime in 2025. We would love to tell you exactly what it’s about, but as usual with Kojima’s works, we are left with more questions than answers. We do know that familiar characters will make an appearance, including courier Sam (Norman Reedus).
He now has a talking puppet with him and will apparently face new enemies. And he’s wandering again. We hope to be able to tell you more after the release.
The Midnight Walk
- Genre: Horror / Sidescroller
- Developer: MoonHood
- Release: 2025
The Midnight Walk can also scare us on our PC, but it is a PlayStation exclusive on consoles. The horror game with its unusual claymation look looks as if it was made entirely out of plasticine. And in fact, a lot of clay and handicraft went into it! This conveys a very unique creepy factor, the distorted monsters move jerkily and unnaturally – baaaah.
We are a walking lamp and have lost our way, now we have to fight our way through the deadly world of The Midnight Walk. Could become the next cult horror after Little Nightmares!
Ballad of Antara
- Genre: Action RPG / Online
- Developer: Tipsworks Studio
- Release: 2025
Supply for fans of dark fantasy: Ballad of Antara sends us into a contaminated world where huge bosses lurk. What has been seen of it so far leaves us in awe: gorgeous graphics and stylish environments that are reminiscent of The Elden Ring. It will also be released for PC.
As an “emissary”, we first choose our class and then set out on a journey between two worlds with a young girl on our backs. An online connection is required, and there are optional in-game purchases. Ballad of Antara is basically Free2Play.
PS5 games, expected to be released in 2025
Horizon Online
- Genre: Action-Adventure
- Developer: Guerilla Games
- Release: Not officially known
Horizon Online is supposed to enrich the universe of Zero Dawn and Forbidden West with a real multiplayer title. We don’t yet know the final title, nor have we seen a trailer – so why are we currently expecting a release in 2025?
As attentive fans have spotted, developer Guerilla posted a job offer in November for a release QA tester to prepare an unnamed online project for its launch in the first half of 2025. The job offer can no longer be found, so the position has probably been successfully filled.
If Horizon Online continues the now infamous curse of its predecessors, it will again be released at the same time as another big game – anyone want to guess GTA 6?
Where Winds Meet
- Genre: Action-Adventure
- Developer: Everstone Studios
- Release: Not officially known
We had actually expected the release of Where Winds Meet as early as the end of 2024. After all, there was already a playable beta in April and it was supposed to be released in June, at least in China. Now, however, it looks like it will be 2025; a specific release date has not yet been announced.
The action-adventure game is modeled on the Wuxia genre and stages spectacular sword fights in a Chinese-inspired open world. With its puzzles, diverse environments, and playable musical instruments, it reminds us of Ghost of Tsushima – only in a different setting.
Sword of the Sea
- Genre: Adventure
- Developer: Giant Squid
- Release: Not officially known
Sword of the Sea is a game that clearly reminds us of the indie hit Journey. It comes from the developers behind the no less beautiful Abzu and has no official release date. However, we found a Reddit thread from November 2024 in which a developer made promising comments.
In response to a user’s question about the launch, the Giant Squid account replied, “No release date yet, but next year looks promising.” Currently, the game is still in pre-alpha, they are approaching the beta build. The game will also be released on PC.
Marvel’s Venom
- Genre: Action-Adventure
- Developer: Insomniac Games
- Release: Not officially known
Okay, at the very end, we’ll allow ourselves a bit of wishful thinking. It’s quite possible that the Venom game from the Spider-Man developers won’t be released until later. After all, it hasn’t even been officially revealed yet; we only know of its existence thanks to leaks. It will probably be a spin-off similar to Miles Morales.
According to comicbook.com, different information about the planned release was found in the same leak: either 2025 or 2027. Since there will probably be no DLC for Spider-Man 2, the development team is at least theoretically free for Venom. And Sony has stated in the past that they want to unveil games just before release instead of teasing for many years.
Which PlayStation 5 game are you most looking forward to in 2025? It doesn’t have to be from this list, after all, there are also numerous exciting multiplatform games coming out: Kingdom Come 2, Gothic Remake, Civilization 7, Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 and many, many more!!
