What will it be. Death Stranding 2? A Ghost of Tsushima sequel? Or a new Bungie IP after all? The Playstation Showcase at the end of May should be phenomenal, according to insiders.

Ahead: read on with a pinch of caution. Officially, virtually nothing of the following is known, but if even a fraction of the information from insiders is true, May will be an exciting month for all Playstation owners. And if GameStar editor Sören Diedrich is right, all PC gamers can be happy, too.

Is a PlayStation showcase close?

According to industry insiders like Joe Miller or (Twitter user RinoTheBouncer) Sony is supposed to hold a big Playstation showcase on May 25. Here, several sequels to hits like Ghost of Tshushima or Marvel’s Spider-Man, as well as new brands from well-known developers like Destiny makers Bungie, will reportedly be part of the event.

Which titles should appear?

Titles alleged to be shown and/or revealed therein shall include:

  • Wolverine
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Stellar Blade
  • Silent Hill 2 Remake
  • The Last of Us: Multiplayer
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Ghost of Tsushima II

Also, new brands from the following studios are to be shown/introduced:

  • Sony Santa Monica (God of War)
  • Bend Studios (Days Gone)
  • Bungie (Destiny series)

The hype on social media is palpable. Epitomizing the anticipation are statements like this:

Has the potential to be the biggest PlayStation showcase in years

Playstation 5 Pro in the making?

According to Playstation leaker Tom Henderson this question can be clearly answered with Yes  He also claims that devkits will be shipped to first-party studios as soon as possible. So following this narrative, a announcement of the Playstation 5 Pro at the showcase would also be a conceivable option for Sony.

How do insiders come up with the date?

The day of the week, a Thursday, is derived from Sony’s habit of always dropping the curtain on either Thursday or Wednesday in recent years. The time period is also purely defined based on rumors : According to this, the showcase is to take place before Summer Game Fest (June 8, 2023)

But only once again to curb the euphoria a bit and thus take the edge off the possible disappointment: They are only rumors so far. So let’s keep our fingers crossed that we’re in for something really big from Sony at the end of May.

However, there will only be clarity in the short term: Because Sony usually announces its showcases without much advance notice, often even the day before.

What do you think? Do you believe what is promised? And assuming everything is true: Which title are you most excited about? Is it Ghost of Thushima 2 or the Silent Hill remake? Or something completely different? Feel free to post your hopes and thoughts in the comments!
