After the controversial Scream crossover, a collaboration with musician Post Malone is now following.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 will apparently be relying more on crossovers with other media and personalities in the future. For the latest partnership, Post Malone is being brought on board for the shooter: the American singer and music producer is even part of the official lore. Many players are hoping for a new Hunter skin – and are not at all enthusiastic about this idea. Post Malone joins the Hunt In an extensive Q&A video with Post Malone on the Hunt YouTube channel, the musician reveals himself to be a big fan of the game, describes his favorite moments and lists his favorite weapons. On the official Hunt website, Post Malone was even embedded in the game’s setting

A corresponding artwork shows the star with a hat, rifle and in the appropriate 19th-century style robe. Many fans therefore conclude: a skin is planned for Post Malone.

“What’s next, Nicki Minaj?”

The idea that celebrity partnerships could become part of Hunt: Showdown in the future is not well received by some players and is perceived as inappropriate – especially since Hunt is still struggling with profound technical problems after the major 1896 update.

The skin of Ghost Face from the Scream movies only caused an outcry in the community in October 2024.

Fans feared that Crytek would dilute the gripping atmosphere of the game with skins of big brands – one of Hunt’s big selling points.

Promis as DLC catalyst

Fans express strong concerns that celebrities could regularly appear in the form of skins in Hunt: Showdown in the future and draw parallels to Fortnite or Call of Duty Other brands and celebrities have been integrated there seemingly at random for years.

With Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg, from King Kong to The Walking Dead and Dune, Activision is making a killing: the company now generates more than 60 percent of its gaming revenue from microtransactions. What suffers as a result: the identity of previous CoD seasons.
