In the new MOBA title of the Pokémon universe, Pikachu can’t be missing. How you can best play the yellow mouse in Pokémon Unite is explained in this short guide.
Pikachu is the flagship of the Pokémon franchise and one of the first monsters to be playable in the MOBA title Pokémon Unite. The representative of the electric type belongs to the attacker category in the new game and thus shines in ranged combat. Find out how to make the best use of Pikachu’s abilities and what to look out for here.
High Attack, Low KP
Numerous MOBA titles have this one character category that deals an outrageous amount of damage but can’t withstand much itself. Pokémon Unite is no exception and includes Pikachu, among others, in this group.
The general play style of Pikachu is therefore to stay out of range of melee fighters or tanks as much as possible and only attack them from a distance. For this, it makes sense to have other Pokémon in the team that are further ahead in battle and can thus protect Pikachu. Besides tanks like Relaxo, Bisasam or Vulpix and their evolutions can be suitable for this. Both have crowd control attacks that can stun or hold opponents, allowing Pikachu to deal damage without much risk.
Pikachu’s stats
Offence: 4.5 Stars
Toughness: 1.5 Stars
Mobility: 2.5 stars
Scoring: 2 Stars
Support: 1.5 Stars
Even in the Early Game, Pikachu is a threat to Pokémon that are still evolving. Through Thunder Shock, Pikachu paralyses opponents and can gain an early advantage for the team. As an attacker, the bottom lane or top lane should usually be covered.
Once it gets towards mid and late game, Pikachu should learn attacks like Volt Takle to have a Dash. This not only increases his damage, but also his mobility and prepares his Unite attack Lightning Storm, which hits many enemies in close proximity at once for massive area damage. Another improved attack is the Electro Ball, which can paralyse enemy Pokémon from a distance.
Items for Pikachu
In order for the ever-popular Electric Pokémon to last a little longer in precarious situations, healing items are a good choice. For example, the Shell Bell can give Pikachu the necessary stamina by healing it by 45 CP for each special attack.
Since damage is Pikachu’s top priority, it also makes sense to boost it. For example, the Pokémon becomes really effective with the Blue Goggle, which improves special attacks. However, all the damage in the world is useless if Pikachu is not in the right place at the right time to inflict it. For this reason, accelerating items such as the Light Stone are also worth considering in order to increase movement speed.
