Fans of Destiny, Outriders and Co. should keep an eye on Project Magnum. The first trailer promises a real feast for the eyes.

Loot shooters like Destiny 2, Outriders or Borderlands 3 have valiantly fought for their own genre. Now, surprisingly, a new challenger from South Korea has emerged under the working title Project Magnum. And, good people, does it look good!

A first trailer shows pretty much everything that works in Destiny: Huge enemies, big guns, supernatural abilities and lots of explosions. Take a look for yourself:

What is already known about Project Magnum

Much is still in the dark except for the trailer and a brief description. The release date has not yet been announced. However, we do know that Project Magnum will be released for PlayStation 5 and 4 as well as PC – and “in most major markets around the world”. This theoretically includes Germany.

Developer NAT Games, a subsidiary of publisher Nexon, describes Project Magnum as a mix of role-playing game and third-person shooter. The game is exclusively co-op PvE, i.e. player (groups) against computer opponents.

The enemies include human-sized robot monsters as well as huge bosses, which players then have to bring down with their combined forces. The trailer above shows you some of these colossi, a shot of which you can see here:

Many familiar means from loot shooters also appear in the trailer: There are many different types of weapons, game characters use superhero abilities. In addition, players use grappling hooks to move nimbly through the world. This promises an interesting expansion of the movement spectrum, which we have not yet seen in Destiny.

Despite the good omens: We will have to wait and see how well what is shown really plays in the end and what sets it apart from well-known genre greats like Destiny 2. The video footage at least leaves a promising first impression.
