As Koch Media GmbH announced this week, the Austrian media company and publisher of games like Chorus and Saints Row is renaming itself PLAION. The new name also comes with a new logo that refers to the interactive play button, the abstract “P”, as a representation. Further, under the new name and rebrand, PLAION aims to take the role as a leader in the digital entertainment ecosystem.

Plaion continues to include publishing units such as Deep Silver, Prime Matter, Milestone, Vertigo Games and Ravenscourt, which publish games for consoles, PC and VR platforms. In addition, the company, which is headquartered in Höfen and Munich, maintains long-term multinational publishing collaborations with numerous game publishers such as Activision BlizzardBethesda, Capcom, Focus Multimedia, Giants Software, Koei Tecmo, Paradox,  Sega, SNK, Square Enix, Techland, THQ Nordic, Tripwire, Warner Bros. and many others.

Klemens Kundratitz, co-founder and CEO of PLAION commented on the move as follows:

“Over the last 28 years, we have built an incredibly strong company, working with many of the most recognised names in the industry. Since joining Embracer Group in 2018, growth has accelerated and we have become increasingly diversified. We chose our new name to reflect the substantive evolution of our business and our global expansion, but also to better represent who we are and the path we are taking. “

Our new name offers us the opportunity to build on our rich history as a publishing partner and our outstanding, ever-expanding network of world-class development studios and creatives, to continue to provide world-class service to our partners, to underscore our ambitions as a global player in the entertainment industry, but also to reinvent ourselves. Our vision is to empower and inspire our global teams and partners and unleash their full potential.

It remains exciting how the new name will affect the future plans of the PLAION company and its business relationships and publisher orders. As we Facebook-Meta ve seen recently, such a move can also mean many changes in the company.
