Quake, one of the most defining first-person shooters of all time, is now back

Without Quake from 1996, the shooter landscape would probably look completely different today – or not even exist! After all, Quake 3 Arena, Doom 3, Team Fortress and the graphics engines of Half-Life and Call of Duty were created from Quake. Now the classic is returning: at QuakeCon 2021, Bethesda announced a new edition – and released it straight away.

The Quake: Enhanced Edition offers 4K resolution, widescreen support, improved models, edge smoothing and new lighting and includes all add-ons. Multiplayer and co-op (local as well as online) are also on board, including crossplay across all platforms.

Owners of Quake on Steam or Bethesda.net will receive the upgrade to the new version for free as an update.
