Avalanche is reportedly working on Ravenbound: Tales of Avalt, which will combine an open world with roguelike mechanics.

A new leak possibly reveals the next game from Avalanche Studios. The developers of Just Cause 4, Rage 2 and Generation Zero are reportedly working on an open-world title called Ravenbound: Tales of Avalt, which will be built around roguelike elements.

The information comes from the leaker Shaun Weber and was picked up by the well-known insider Tom Henderson. We summarise for you what you could expect with Ravenbound.

Important: Since this is not official information, be sure to view the news with an appropriate amount of skepticism.

This is how Ravenbound should be

In an article for (Exputer.com) Tom Henderson summarises the details about Ravenbound: Tales of Avalt previously shared by Shaun Weber via Twitter. In addition to the bare facts, Weber also provided screenshots that are said to be from Ravenbound:

  • Third-person action game: Allegedly, you control your character from the shoulder perspective through an open world. The images show a comic graphic style and familiar fantasy motifs.
  • Story central element: Ravenbound is said to be driven by a story that lets you slip into the role of a knight who wants to free his home Avalt from marauding invaders.
  • Roguelike elements: Like Dead Cells or Hades you will have to start over every time you die. After each death, however, you should still progress by being able to choose from several types of shapeshifting. There will also be different new weapons and abilities to choose from. These should enable different strategies to conquer the open world.
  • Shapeshifting: You should be able to slip into the form of a raven and explore the game world by flying. This should also allow you to study the behaviour patterns of enemy groups and develop the best strategy.

More important details, such as a possible release date, cannot be found in the leak. Except for one thing: Allegedly, Ravenbound: Tales of Avalt is already in an advanced state of development

Whether an announcement will follow soon or the leak will turn out to be untrue, only time will tell. In view of Henderson’s almost always reliable accuracy so far, the chances of authenticity are not bad.
