50 euros for the Switch and PS4 versions of Red Dead Redemption – this price tag is absolutely reasonable according to Strauss Zelnick. Some fans are stunned.

In a few days, on 17 August 2023 to be precise, the first Red Dead Redemption will be released for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, before a physical variant then lands on retailer shelves on 13 October. The PC will once again go empty handed and fan reaction to this announcement couldn’t be clearer.

Too few innovations, too high a price: This is the basic tenor of the criticism from the community. In an investor call, Take 2 boss Strauss Zelnick has now poured new oil on the fire.

A reasonable price?

As (Kotaku) and (IGN) report, some interesting statements were made by the Take 2 management during the talk with the investors. Above all, the price of the new edition in the amount of 50 Euros was discussed.

According to Strauss Zelnick, the price was economically reasonable When asked later if the high price tag was due to the inclusion of the Undead Nightmare DLC, he replied:

Red Dead Redemption] was a great standalone game when it was originally released, and we feel like it’s a great package for the first time, and certainly a good value for consumers.

What he probably means by first time At least among Switch users, there are also quite a few voices that are excited about the new version. No wonder, after all, Nintendo gamers can finally have a great adventure with John Marston as well.

Fans are furious – now more than ever

In the community, Strauss Zelnick’s statements are – surprise – not going down well. It didn’t take long on Reddit for the first memes to pop up with his quote:

Sure it is her Strauss 😒

The comments are as passionate as usual. One user writes something like:

No multiplayer, no DLCs except UN, no improvements, no additional content

But 50 buckeroonies is economically reasonable

The top comment under the thread linked above probably sums up the harsh economic reality most aptly: If people pay for it, then it’s right. If you want to prove them [Take 2] wrong, don’t buy it.

What do you think of Take 2 CEO Strauss Zelnick’s new statements? Do you agree with him, at least from an economic point of view? Or does shaking your head wildly already give you whiplash? Will you get the remake of Red Dead Redemption for the Switch or the PS4? Feel free to post your opinions in the comments!
