The venerable war game publisher and developer MicroProse is returning to its roots after its re-founding: with Regiments, a real-time tactics game will be released on Steam on 16 August 2022, which is set in an alternative reality in which the Cold War escalates into an armed conflict between the blocs.

That’s why the setting of Regiments is also called Germany, which beyond World War II is rarely treated as a battlefield in games. In the trailer you can see what the battles on German soil look like in Regiments in 1989.

Speaking of the eighties: the history of MicroProse even goes back to 1982. In addition to simulations like Gunship and Falcon 4.0, the portfolio also included strategy games like Mech Commander and, yes, Civilization 1. After all, industry veteran Sid Meier was one of the founding members.
