Possibly the coolest shooter heroine of all time is finally set to make her well-deserved comeback, if the remaster experts at Nightdive have their way
There could soon be a return to the stylish 60s – at least if Nightdive Studios has its way. The specialists for remasters of classic shooters, who are known for their remakes of classics such as Turok, Quake and System Shock, have put out feelers for another gem: No One Lives Forever.
After their success with the remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces, which was released just last month, Nightdive has turned to social media once again. This time, the appeal is directed at Warner Brothers Games, with the kind request to be allowed to develop a remaster of the cult classic No One Lives Forever.
Nightdive CEO Stephen Kick already used Twitter for Dark Forces and now hopes that the strategy, which was already successful with Disney, will pay off again.

The classic shooter No One Lives Forever was originally developed by Monolith Software in the early 2000s and is characterized by a mixture of action, stealth and a self-deprecating 60s story in which the charming heroine Cate Archer fights her way through crazy missions with lipstick grenades and co.
However, the license rights for NOLF, as it is called by fans, are considered particularly tricky territory. Although WB Games could potentially own the rights through the acquisition of Monolith, the actual situation is more complicated. In the past, WB Games, Fox Interactive and Activision have been unable to agree on ownership, which has stalled previous remaster efforts.
Despite these obstacles, Nightdive Studios attempted to remake the game back in 2014, including planned updates, improvements and even dedicated servers for multiplayer modes. However, these efforts stalled due to the unclear legal situation.
Now Nightdive is once again asking for the community’s support to convince WB Games to remaster the game. Over 5,000 players have already expressed their support via Twitter and hope to be able to slip back into the role of spy Cate Archer soon
