Remnant 2 supports a new Nvidia feature – but you shouldn’t use it

Remnant 2 has been out for a few days and seems to have technical problems in the PC version. One of them concerns a new Nvidia feature that you should switch off

The official release of Remnant 2 took place a few days ago and is happy about a successful start – at least if you attach importance to high player numbers.

The jerks and dips in the frame rates actually lend themselves as if made for helping out with Nvidia’s upscaling AI DLSS. But DLSS 3 seems to provide less help than desired, as (Wccftech) reports.

Remnant 2 with DLSS 3: More frames – and more jerkiness

According to the report, DLSS 3 was not initially included in the release version of Remnant 2, but was added a short time later without much mention on the part of Gunfire Games.

Why a feature as big as DLSS is hardly advertised by the developer studio or Nvidia itself is quickly apparent in Ward 13, Remnant 2’s hub, according to Wccftech.

Here, AI upscaling may bring the expected improvements in frame rates – on average, the FPS counter goes up by 55 percent – but the quality of the implementation is heavily criticised.

The report explains that Remnant 2 runs much less smoothly with DLSS 3 activated and some animations look even more choppy. The image stability is also criticised, due to which the shooter runs strangely shaky

In the video, Wccftech shows concrete examples of what is meant by this:

Accordingly, the author of the article has turned off DLSS 3 for the time being, after all, responsiveness is essential in Souls-like games like Remnant 2.

We also recommend the same process if you use DLSS 3 in combination with an RTX-40 graphics card to be on the safe side (and to have one less excuse why you failed the boss).

The reason for the faulty implementation of DLSS 3 cannot be clarified at the time of article publication. Gunfire Games itself has not yet commented on the issue.

Speculations include that Nvidia Reflex was not implemented correctly, which is a key component of DLSS 3. An option to turn Reflex off separately is also unusually not found in the settings.

Now it’s your turn: Do you play Remnant 2 and have DLSS 3 activated? What kind of behaviour can you observe in the game – do you also see choppy animations or does the shooter run as expected? Let us know in the comments!
