Reptile from the Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition is already in the EU Masters quarterfinals in his first split. There he will meet top player Rekkles.
Jona “Reptile” Fritz is the ADC of the Prime League team Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition, which was the only German team to make it to the quarter finals of the EU Masters. In this rookie interview, he tells us about his many successes in the first split, his goals and why he’s happy to be competing against Karmine Corp.
Great development in just one year.
Reptile made his debut in the first division of the Prime League in the team Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition at the beginning of the split. Before that, the bot laner played in the second division, where he already showed an impressive performance. In the same split, he was able to celebrate his first success, as Reptile was crowned Rookie of the Split. This was followed by entry into the EU Masters and now successful qualification for the quarter-finals.
But the start in the Prime League was still not easy for him. “I was pretty nervous at the beginning. I had to find my way around and get to grips with the whole thing,” Reptile looks back. All in all, the first division is a completely different world for him compared to the second division, and he had to get used to it first. “When I had a few more games, the whole thing felt a bit easier. The confidence went up and then it was easier to play,” which eventually showed in his performance.
For Reptile, it still feels surreal. “You wouldn’t have thought a year ago that you’d be in the EU Masters quarter-finals at this point and it’s just a pretty cool feeling to have made it this far now, in my first ERL split,” he explains.
His goal was not necessarily to become Rookie of the Split, but to present himself as well as possible. Nevertheless, he had his sights set on the EU Masters: “Before the split, my goal was to make it to the EU Masters, and now I have achieved that. I never thought I’d make it this far, but yeah, pretty cool,” the bot laner says with a laugh.
“It’s just cool for me to play against Rekkles. “
The team is currently in the quarter-finals of the EU Masters. There they will next face Karmine Corp, last year’s winners. But this does not seem to bother Reptile. Even before the draw, he declared that he would like to play Karmine Corp: “I think KCorp would be really cool, just because they have a huge fanbase, so a lot of people will watch the game. And it’s also just cool for me to play against Rekkles. The most hyped AD-Carry in the tournament. It’s just a chance to prove myself, so I think KCorp would be pretty cool. “

Overall, Reptile is also confident of himself and his team, but also knows that things don’t always go well. “I think we have good potential. I can’t say now how far I see us at the moment because it really depends on our form on the day. If we have a good day, I would say we can make it very very far, if we have a bad day, we might lose already in the quarterfinals. So we have good chances,” said the LoL pro.
We won’t know if Reptile and the Unicorns can prevail against Karmine Corp until 30 April, when they face each other in the best-of-five. You can watch the games on the official (EU Masters channel) or the (german stream) of SummenersInn.
