New information about the hotly anticipated Rise of the Ronin has appeared on the PlayStation Store. These go into the factions of the adventure game
Rise of the Ronin is the upcoming adventure game from acclaimed development studio Team Ninja. The studio made a detour to China last year with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Now they are returning to the land of the rising sun with the upcoming title
The action adventure is set in the so-called “Bakumatsu” period. This is characterized by the clash between West and East, heralding the end of the Japanese shogunate. In this time of revolution, chaos and fear, you take on the role of a ronin. The masterless samurai decides to take his fate into his own hands. Little does he realize that his actions could change the history of Japan.
The three factions
In Rise of the Ronin, three factions fight for supremacy in a Japan plunged into chaos.
On the one hand, there is the Pro-Shogunate Sabaku Tokugawa’s loyal followers want to defend the shogunate from internal and external attacks and maintain the current political order. The Supreme Minister Naosuke Ii and the geisha Taka Murayama are named as representatives of this faction.
On the other hand, there is the Anti-Shogunate Tobaku, which is made up of various groups and individual fighters. Together, they want to overthrow the shogunate and restore imperial authority. Ronin Ryoma Sakamoto and Geflogsmann Kogoro Katsura are named as representatives of the faction.
Last but not least, the Obei, the western forces of Rise of the Ronin, should be mentioned. These are the European and American powers that want to end Japan’s ongoing isolationist policy and bring about an opening. They influence the new political and economic landscape. Their representatives are Commodore Matthew Perry and diplomat Rutherford Alcock. Rise of the Ronin will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on March 22nd
