RTX 5070 Ti: First leaks about the chip offer little that is surprising

The first rumors place the technical data of the RTX 5070 Ti exactly where one would expect them.

A little over a month ago, some technical data of the upcoming Blackwell generation from Nvidia was leaked. In addition to the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, another GPU model was somewhat surprisingly included in the rumors: the RTX 5070.

As usual with Nvidia, there is still room for additional models in the form of a Ti version, which is also expected to be available for the RTX 5070 and, like the RTX 5070, is scheduled to be released in February 2025.

The first leaks about the RTX 5070 Ti have now appeared, from the reliable kopite7kimi (via Videocardz).

  • According to this, the RTX 5070 Ti with the GB203 chip is based on the same Blackwell variant as the next higher RTX 5080.
  • Of course, the chip for the RTX 5070 Ti is trimmed a little: With 70 streaming multiprocessors (SM), the GPU should ultimately have over 8,960 shader units (CUDA cores) This assumption is based on the fact that there will continue to be 128 CUDA cores per SM.
  • For comparison: The RTX 5080 is said to have 84 SMs; accordingly, that would be 10,752 CUDA cores.

However, there are no new details about the memory. Only the use of GDDR7 is certain, but here too the question remains open as to whether memory chips with a speed of 32 or 28 Gbps will be used.

  • In view of this, we have to assume for the moment that Nvidia will handle it in the same way as its direct predecessors and that the RTX 5070 Ti will have the same memory configuration as the regular version.
  • At least here we have more details, which come from the leak mentioned at the beginning. This spoke of a 192-bit interface, resulting in 12 GB VRAM.

At least kopite7kimi has provided new information on power consumption. The RTX 5070 Ti with 300 watts is said to be exactly between the RTX 5070 (250 watts) and RTX 5080 (400 watts) in terms of TDP as well.

  • The associated 12V-2×6 power connector, which Nvidia made mandatory with the arrival of the RTX 40 super graphics cards, has been confirmed for some time.
  • Likewise, the upgrade to three DisplayPort 2.1a connectors and one HDMI 2.1 connector is likely to take place with the Blackwell generation.
