The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is still shrouded in mystery, at least from the official side, but leaks are providing more and more insights into its inner workings.

The guesswork and frantic search for information snippets about AMD’s upcoming RDNA-4 generation around the RX 9070 (XT) and FSR 4, the new version of the in-house upscaling, will probably accompany us throughout CES 2025.

The Radeon manufacturer itself is not the least to blame for this, as the keynote address at the technology trade show on Monday revealed very little information to the public.

Leaks, however, there are as so often still: In the Chinese Chiphell forum (via ) more information about the technical data and further benchmarks from the well-known 3DMark suite have now emerged.

Radeon RX 9070 XT: The most important specs appear in the leak

The thread, which was probably opened by the admin of the Chiphell forum, begins with striking words: “Wait with pre-ordering the RTX 5000 graphics cards, because everything has just changed”. However, the user did not get more specific.

In return, further screenshots appeared, which are supposed to show the Radeon RX 9070 XT in the form of an Asus custom GPU:

  • The recently leaked 16 GB video memory are mentioned again based on the information shown in the GPU-Z software. These are said to work at a speed of around 20 Gbps.
  • Also for the probably installed Navi-48-Chip, as in the leaks from last fall, the 4,096 shader units, which are said to be installed in the Radeon RX 9070 XT, are mentioned.
  • The Asus GPU clocks at 2,520 MHz In boost mode, up to 3,060 MHz should be possible. However, it should be noted that most Asus models have a factory overclock; accordingly, the figures for the reference model (“MBA”) are likely to be lower.
  • The same applies to the TDP, which is specified in the screenshots: up to 330 watts the GPU draws in the Furmark stress test. Again, the actual values are likely to be lower given the Asus-side overclocking.

RX 9070 XT: First benchmark classifications, release dates and price speculations

This is followed by some 3D Mark values in the Chiphell thread, which are said to belong to the Radeon RX 9070 XT in the “Time Spy Extreme” and “Speed Way” course and were recorded in 4K resolution. The first benchmark mentioned in particular provides an interesting performance picture:

  • So soll die Radeon RX 9070 XT hier auf 14.558 Punkte kommen. Mit einem solchen Wert setzt sich die AMD-GPU knapp vor die RTX 4080 Super, die auf etwa 14.061 Punkte kommt.
  • In the “Speed Way” course, which is considered to be much more raytracing-heavy, the Radeon RX 9070 XT with 6,345 points , on the other hand, lags somewhat behind the regular RTX 4080 (6,948 points).

At the same time, the first price rumors are also making the rounds on Chiphell. According to these, the reference model of the Radeon RX 9070 XT is to go on sale for $479 – and would thus be $80 cheaper than the RTX 5070, which AMD is expected to have to compete with.

Higher-quality custom GPUs should in turn cost up to $550, without these being mentioned in more detail.

At least we don’t have to wait much longer for verified information, if the Chiphell leaks are to be believed. Accordingly, the test embargo is scheduled to be lifted on January 22, with the pre-order phase starting a day later.
