A detailed roadmap for 2023 has been revealed for the Saints Row reboot, delivering a number of free and paid expansions.

Volitions Saints Row reboot flopped and fell flat with numerous critics and fans of the series. Despite this, the game is not abandoned, instead a handful of paid as well as free updates and DLCs are planned for 2023. What the roadmap has to offer, we summarise for you in the following overview

This is what the Saints Row roadmap for 2023 looks like

In a (official blog post) developer Volition has revealed what new content and updates will be hitting in the coming months. The planned DLCs are divided into two categories: one part is free for all players, the other is included in the paid Expansion Pass (for around 30 Euros).

The new game areas, which are always the linchpins of the Expansion Pass expansions, can thus be explored by all players – and not only by those who buy the DLCs.

But be warned: Not all of the planned expansions have concrete details or release dates. Volition will share more information on this in the coming weeks and months. For now, here is an overview of the roadmap:

April 2023

  • Free: A Cosmetic Pack to Dead Island 2

May 2023

  • Free: new borough Sunshine Springs, battle system overhaul, photo mode and more
  • Cost: New story missions, events, cosmetics and more content in update The Heist and the Hazardous

July 2023

  • Free: New features, improvements and more
  • Cost: New Solo Mode Doc Ketchum”s Murder Circus

August 2023

  • Free: New borough, new features, improvements and more
  • Cost: New story, missions, enemies, cosmetics and more in an as-yet-unnamed expansion

By the way: At the same time, developer Volition makes it clear that they haven”t reached the end of the line with fixes and quality-of-life improvements for Saints Row. Saints Row was plagued by numerous technical problems, especially at the time of release, and not all of them have been fixed yet.

Meanwhile, the future of Saints Row and the series in general is still up in the air. The Embracer Group behind Volition made no secret of the disappointing response from the press and fans, as well as the poor sales figures (via Twitter).

What kind of experience have you had with the Saints Row reboot: have you enjoyed the open-world game so far or haven”t warmed up to the gangster series” new direction? Will you take a look at the announced DLCs – whether paid or free – or will you do without them? Let us know in the comments!
