The community is facing a real dilemma and discussing what is probably the hardest choice they’ve ever had to make

The latest general order inHelldivers 2could hardly be meaner. Two planets are under threat, but only one can be saved. The possible consequences are particularly explosive, the players have to make an impossible choice and time is running out.

The trolley problem the Helldivers way

The community can only liberate one planet. From Vernen Vells comes aemergency call from a children’s hospitaland on Marfak there is a large, bot-controlled explosives depot whose stocks are needed for the production ofMD-17 anti-tank mines&nbsp.

The players have to decide which planet to save and thus make the choice between defenseless sick children and the new mines.

Not the first decision:Back in Aprilplayers had to choose between the anti-tank mines and a new rocket launcher. The choice fell on the rockets, but the lives of the children should have a different moral weight.

Community saves children – but prefer not to ask

The players are having numerous discussions about the right decision, but they don’t have much time. After the general order was issued yesterday, a four-day countdown began

On Reddit, players are trying to convince each other. Supporters of saving children quickly gain the upper hand – albeit with questionable arguments.

Reddit userRum_N_Napalmfor example, wants to make it a meme that the community decidesagainst the minesat every opportunity.

ShiddyMage1is a little more pragmatic:“Of course we’ll save the children, the mines won’t build themselves. “That’s how you can make the choice, of course.

The useralexman113simply wants to know whether there is asecret rewardfor rescuing the children – so their welfare is not really the main focus here either.

The current status looks like this:A good 25,000 players are currently working on freeing the children on Vernen Vells, and 1,500 Helldivers are active in the neighboring system with the planet Marfak. So the community seems to have made its choice – albeit for rather questionable reasons, but still. It remains to be seen whether they will succeed in winning
