With Serpent Moon, Hunt Showdown will soon be launching a new event that even long-term players haven”t seen before, because it (literally) has bite!

Hunt Showdown is already an incredibly atmospheric shooter, as you can read in our review. But the new Serpent Moon event takes the atmosphere up a notch and bathes the landscape in ghostly green moonlight. The trailer certainly looks spectacular:

But it”s not just the look that”s changing, Crytek has also come up with something different in terms of gameplay mechanics this time around. Here”s a quick overview of Hunt Showdown – Serpent Moon:

  • When does the event start? Serpent Moon runs from 27 July to 26 September, so you have two full months to unlock all the new weapons and items and go snake hunting. Wait, why snake hunting? We”ll explain in the next item!
  • What”s different from before? This time there are small baskets of poisonous snakes scattered around the maps. And as with previous events, the rule is: track down objects, destroy them, get event points. The highlight: This time you can also catch the snakes, bring them to altars and sacrifice them there in the fire to get twice as many points.
  • Why is this exciting? Of course, if you collect the snakes, you risk being bitten and poisoned or taken out by other hunters before you reach an altar! So players should carefully weigh the risk against the prospect of double event points, which should lead to an interesting new dynamic.
  • How does the Event Pass work? As always, you level up in the pass by collecting event points and unlock the new weapons, skins and items along the way. In addition, there are also little story and lore snippets to help you learn more about the background of Serpent Moon.

    A highlight: The new weapons

The Sparks rifle now comes in a short pistol format and can thus even be used in akimbo style (i.e. one weapon in each hand). At the same time, the Sparks retains its main feature: Only one shot, extremely high damage!

In addition, the new Romero Alamo adds an experimental magazine to what is actually a single-shot shotgun, so that when you flip the barrel open and closed, you automatically load a fresh round.

    Our tip for the event

By the way, you can earn more event points by using various boosters. Boosters are special orders that you can get through the event pass itself, for example.

Boosters are also certain hunters: If you play as a Witch Hunter, Hail Mary or Night Seer, you will earn more points. Defeating bosses also grants event points.
