Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One – Gameplay video shows open world and detective work

In a gameplay video lasting over seven minutes, the developers present many mechanics of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One in more detail. In addition to an insight into the open world, a Mediterranean island, there is also a lot of information about detective work, interrogations, battles and the inventory system.

Some things are reminiscent of Crimes and Punishments, but the new Sherlock goes a few steps further. We can now ask any NPC for clues about evidence, for example, to find the owner of a walking stick. We scrutinise important people with Sherlock’s penetrating investigator’s eye, which provides us with more information.

However, the young not-yet-master detective can sometimes be miles off the mark. We are supposed to have the freedom to make the wrong decision as well, which can lead to a case not being solved properly. In the worst case, an innocent person is arrested.

The battles are also more about skill and acumen than brute force. Sherlock prefers to aim at weak points in slow motion – but if you don’t feel like shooting at all, the fights can be turned off completely. By the way, you can also set the difficulty level of puzzles and fights separately.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One will be released for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X on 16 November 2021. The LastGen version has been pushed back a few weeks without an exact release date.
