The Ukrainian developer studio Frogwares launched a Kickstarter campaign a month ago to fund the work Sherlock Holmes The Awakened. The campaign ended a few days ago with a huge success.

The still ongoing war in Ukraine makes it difficult to plan for the future. It”s hard to imagine how companies like Frogwares can sustain themselves without outside financial injections. That is why a month ago a Kickstarter campaign went live with which the studio wanted to finance the development work on Sherlock Holmes The Awakened. This campaign ended on 3 September with a huge success. Over 252,000 Euros were donated in total 4,876 supporters  This trumped the original target by 360%. As Frogwares explains on the official (Kickstarter page), this not only made various in-game features possible. The additional revenue also allows the studio to build a safety net for the future.

With the Kickstarter campaign coming to an end, Frogwares has released new screenshots for Sherlock Holmes The Awakened and set a rough release date. The supernatural remake about Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Watson and an eerie cult is scheduled for release in February 2023. What the upcoming mystery adventure is about!

Frogwares criticised for drastic war measures

Frogwares has clearly stated in the past that they don”t think much of the Russian invaders. With its defiant and self-confident appearance, the developer studio has received a lot of sympathy in recent months. But that seems to be over now. Because in a recent Twitter post, they had called on their community to do a questionable deed. Fans can immortalise themselves on a 152 mm cannon howitzer by posting a message on Twitter. These “special deliveries” will be sent by the Ukrainian soldiers to their unwanted guests, as stated in the corresponding Twitter video

The community shows split reactions over this call. Many support this post as the Russian war side also does not shy away from brutal acts of war. Why should Ukrainian Ebenfalls have to hold back? Others condemn this mere display of cruelty and express disgust at such behaviour. By doing so, Frogwares is merely trivialising the war and making a big joke out of it.

What”s your take on this? Do you support the studio”s behaviour or do you think there must be other ways to deal with the war?
