Skyblivion: The huge remake mod clears important hurdle before release, last region revealed

Skyblivion is entering the home stretch: With Niben Valley, the last region is finished. Now all that’s missing is the final polish.

I was born 87 years ago. I ruled as Emperor of Tamriel for 65 years. But all these years I was never the master of my own dreams… Anyone who gets goosebumps when they hear these words from the mouth of Emperor Uriel Septim VII has clearly spent too many hours in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and probably can’t wait for Skyblivion to finally come out.

The fan remake is a complete rebuild of the fourth Elder Scrolls game in the Skyrim engine. A passionate group of modders has been working on the project since 2016 – and now there is finally an end in sight. After the team announced at the end of 2024 that the release was planned for 2025, there is now good news.

On Twitter, the developers announced that they have now completed the last area of the Cyrodiil world, Niben Valley; there are also a few photos in the tweet. Now only the finishing touches are needed to make the remake ready for release.

What remains to be done?

According to the developers, the areas that were created a long time ago now need to be polished up a bit to bring them up to date with more ambitious development.

Above all, the Skyblivion team is currently working on so-called nav-meshing. This refers to the creation of a sophisticated navigation network that NPCs and creatures use to move through the game world. If this network is not set up correctly, characters may get stuck on tree trunks or other obstacles.

Some quests and interiors also still need to be completed. Overall, however, everything seems to be on track for Skyblivion to be released this calendar year. We, too, can hardly wait to finally set out for Cyrodiil again; after all, Oblivion is proven to be the best game of all time.

Whether Skyblivion will remain the only makeover for the aging Oblivion is currently still unclear. For months, rumors have been persistently circulating about an alleged officialremaster

The last rumor was that it would be announced at the Xbox Showcase in January. But that didn’t happen. So only Bethesda’s in-house chess grandmaster Todd Howard knows whether this remaster really exists.
