Skyrim transformed into Elden Ring: 500 mods change almost everything about the role-playing game

Instead of hundreds of graphic mods, a Skyrim player relies on changing the gameplay. What comes out of it seems like a completely different game.

Who doesn’t know it: Skyrim in 4K, with ray tracing effects, new vegetation and more. Without a doubt, the role-playing game from 2011 can still look very pretty today. However, a player on Reddit is pursuing a different modding approach. His Edge of Heaven hasn’t changed all that much on the outside, but he has made Skyrim really hard – and plays as Ciri from the Witcher games.

Whether the child of the elder blood will actually be the main character of the new Witcher is still uncertain, by the way.

Mix of Elden Ring and Witcher

On Reddit, sekoepat posted a short clip from his modded Skyrim and compares it to Elden Ring because of the high difficulty:

Experienced dragon slayers may recognise the location, it is a northern ruin near the town of Weißlauf. But away from the setting, the original Skyrim is barely recognisable: The combat system has apparently been massively changed, and sekoepat also uses new abilities such as the teleporting known from Ciri in Witcher 3.

If you look closely, you can also see that in Skyrim modded in this way, it is not possible to simply inhale a palette of healing potions. This is because, as also inspired by Witcher, healing via potion increases the character’s poisoning and can therefore not be used indefinitely.

By the way, you can also play Witcher with mods more like Skyrim, for example from a first-person perspective:

Over 500 mods

Of course, one of the first questions that comes up in a presentation like this is what mods are being used here. The contributor finally heard the plea from the comments and provided his (complete modlist) of 503 small and large modifications to the world of Skyrim.

Admittedly, modding Skyrim can stretch its playtime almost to infinity. Nevertheless, Géraldine would rather take the predecessor Oblivion with her to the desert island.

The Elder Ring: Wild Hunt

Under the post, many Reddit users agree with the creator’s assessment, and are amused by the crazy mix of Witcher and Elden Ring. However, some players are also impressed by how little the result of 500 mods still reminds them of Skyrim.

The user Duowithng jokingly points out that Ciri is even canon in Skyrim, because after all she can travel to many different worlds. Others invent fitting names for the new game, such as The Elder Rings: Sky Hunt.

How do you like the modded version of Skyrim? Are you hoping for similar changes to the combat system in Elder Scrolls 6 or does the whole thing seem too hectic to you? Feel free to post your opinion in the comments!
