The new Assassin’s Creed has already ended up on consoles in some places, much to the displeasure of Ubisoft.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a lot to live up to. After numerous setbacks, Ubisoft wants to return to its former strength with the new installment of its flagship series, and has postponed the role-playing game a few times to do so.

AC Shadows is not supposed to be released until March 20, but a few versions have already appeared that players can play right now.

Ubisoft is responding to the leaks

There are some sightings of players who have been given early access to the new Assassin’s Creed. In tweets that have since been deleted, screenshots and gameplay footage were shared. TheGamer reported that physical copies of the role-playing game had apparently already been distributed on Facebook Marketplace and other online platforms.

The authenticity of the leaked content has now been indirectly confirmed by Ubisoft. The studio published a statement via the Assassin’s Creed social media account.

We are aware that players have gained access to Assassin’s Creed Shadows prior to the official release. The development team is still working on patches to prepare the game experience for launch, and material shared online does not represent the final quality of the game.

Leaks are unfortunate and can take the excitement out of the game for players. We kindly ask you not to spoil the experience for others. Thanks to our community, who have already taken steps to protect everyone from spoilers.

In the comments below the Twitter post, some users are skeptical. They wonder why copies of the game have already been delivered when it is not even finished yet. However, due to the delays, it is very likely that unplanned copies that have already been produced have been brought into circulation and are now surfacing.

AC Shadows is actually not an isolated case. Last year, for example, a player of Dragon’s Dogma 2 streamed gameplay on Twitch before the release. Kingdom Hearts 3 also ended up on players’ shelves prematurely in some cases.
