For those who loved Heroes of Might and Magic, Songs of Conquest will look familiar. The Steam secret tip is coming out very soon. On May 10, 2022, the Early Access version will start, and it should take about a year until the final release.
In the strategy/role-playing mix, you explore detailed 2D maps from horseback. Each turn, you have a fixed number of action points at your disposal. You can collect piles of wood and other resources or click on monsters and enemy heroes standing around, whereupon the game switches to battle mode.
The battles rely on the familiar hex grid on which finely animated pixel units move lengthwise, crosswise and diagonally. Each knight, hyena, skeleton or lizard shaman represents an entire squad of this type, a number shows how many units are represented. Players and AI opponents take turns, monsters with a high initiative take their turn earlier.
