Individual profiles for 3D audio are planned for all PS5 users

A new update for the PlayStation 5 has been available as a beta version for selected users since last Thursday.

The new software brings a total of three fresh functions, but you can only try out one of them with the latest revision of the PS5.

In detail:As Sony announces in a post on thePlayStation blogsince yesterday, selected PS5 users have been invited to take part in the new beta.

  • If you have been selected, you should receive a notification in the email inbox linked to your PSN account.

The following features are being introduced by Sony with the beta version for the PlayStation 5:

PS5 update: Personalized 3D audio profiles

The first announced feature is the personalized 3D audio profiles. According to Sony, 3D audio is one of the key elements with which the developers have improved the immersive aspect of the games

So this kind of personalization is just a logical progression of the idea. However, you will need 3D audio-compatible headphones for this feature.

Equipped with the right hardware, you can then carry out a series of sound quality tests.

Sony promises that your personalized 3D audio profile will be able to locate character and object positions even more clearly.

Sony shows how the audio profile is created in a short video clip:

PS5 update: Adaptive loading for your controller (Slim exclusive)

The latest revision of the PlayStation 5 – unofficially also called PS5 Slim – also gets a feature for adaptive charging of your controllers

If this is activated, the console adjusts the duration of the power supply to the connected controller in idle mode. This period in turn depends on the remaining battery level of the respective device.

With adaptive charging, your PS5 will at least save some energy. This is how it works:

  • Go toSystemSave energyFunctions available in sleep mode in the PS5 settings.
  • Select the optionAdaptive in the menu itemPower supply of the USB ports

Older versions of the PlayStation 5 will not receive this feature, at least as far as we know at the moment.

PS5 update: Remote Play for individual users

TheRemote Play feature of the PlayStation 5 will be individualized. In future, you will be able to customize the settings for each user

Among other things, you can now choose who has access to your console via Remote Play even after a visit to your home.

  • Go toSettingsSystemRemote PlayEnable Remote Play
  • In this menu item, select the user to whom you want to give permanent remote play access.

When the software update will be officially released for all PS5 owners is also unclear. Sony is only talking about the next few months
