The PS5 Pro has seen the light of day.As announced yesterday, Sony released the first information about the new console today at 17:00.
The whole thing was presented via livestream by Mark Cerny, who has been the lead system architect for Sony consoles since the PlayStation 4. We summarize all known information about the new PlayStation for you
The most important information about the PS5 Pro

PS5 Pro Technical data
At least we now have some clarity on the graphics specifications. As expected, the console offers the following data:
- 45 percent more raster performance
- 200 percent better ray tracing performance
- KI-based upscaling (PSSR)
In addition, the console comes with 2 TB of memory
In terms of graphics, the PS5 Pro not only offers a newer GPU architecture from AMD (the PS5 still relied on RDNA 2). It also features a proprietary AI architecture. This should not only enable a 45 percent higher raster performance of the graphics chip, but also the use of PSSR.
More performance through AI upscaling:PSSR stands for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. This is Sony’s upscaling technology, similar to Nvidia’s DLSS or AMD’s FSR. The latter has often been a problem with console titles, most recently with Star Wars Outlaws. PSSR should now fix the problem
In addition, ray tracing performance has been optimized. Sony is talking about double to triple the performance. Also mentioned are better lighting, better visual effects and more realistic hair in optimized titles.
In addition, the changes are intended to enable a new, third graphics mode. This will combine 60 FPS with almost the same graphics quality as Fidelity Mode. Unsurprisingly, the words 4K60 are not mentioned once during the presentation
In The Last of Us you can see the differences to the performance mode in the watchtower and the green wall.
What this means in practice remains to be seen in independent tests. However, preliminary reports assume a performance similar to the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT.
Aside from this, Sony is still keeping a lid on the console’s exact hardware. What there was: a first official look at the console’s design
(The distinctive side stripes have already earned the PS5 Pro the unofficial title “Adidas Edition” in the community.)
An unexpectedly high price for the PS5 Pro
The elephant in the room:At 800 euros, the PS5 Pro will be quite a bit more expensive than the PS5 with drive. Its RRP was 550 euros after a price increase, even if current offers are significantly higher – the cheapest variant of the PS5 in the form of the PS5 Slim Digital is even available for less than 450 euros.
Insiders and experts had assumed in advance that the PS5 Pro would be around 100 euros more expensive than the PS5 with disk drive – so had rather expected a price of around 650 euros.
