The Summer Games Fest brought many a novelty, but the prize for the most flashy battles goes to Space Marine 2.

For 13 years now, Warhammer 40,000 fans have been waiting for a sequel, and now Space Marine 2 is slowly but surely making its way towards release.

When will the game
be released? It was first announced at Summer Games Fest 2023 that the co-op shooter would be released in Winter 2023. There was no more precise date yet.

Along the way, the shooter also showed off the most spectacular battle gameplay of the evening. If that’s the only reason you’re here, you can watch the trailer right here:

Strong Pictures

You can see in the trailer how many enemies throw themselves at you at once in Space Marine 2. The hordes are somewhat reminiscent of World War Z or, to stay closer to the subject matter, Warhammer 40K: Darktide, where the chaos hordes also approach you in impressive numbers.

In the trailer, there is so much shooting that the shreds fly. Explosions tear up the picture here and there, the beefy combat suits of the Space Marines do the rest. All in all, interesting gameplay to watch.

Whether the game is as much fun in the end as the trailer would have us believe, we cannot yet judge, of course. But our editor Peter wants to take a look at Space Marine 2 – even though he doesn’t really know what to do with Warhammer of all things.

There were many more exciting announcements and trailers at the Summer Game fest. To make sure you don’t miss a single reveal of the big show, tune in to our live ticker and get everything up close and personal. You will also find an overview of all the announcements in a compact article from 9 June.

Which game at Summer Game Fest has excited you the most so far? Were there any surprises or disappointments? Just write it down in the comments – we’re looking forward to your feedback!
