A Netflix boss is considering a conversion of Squid Game. However, the hit series has long been playable on PC- we tell you how.
Squid Game is currently the series on everyone’s lips: For weeks now, the Korean Netflix show has also been the most-watched show in Germany and is now even on the verge of replacing The Witcher as the most successful Netflix series of all time.
If the hype has passed you by: In Squid Game, hundreds of highly indebted participants fight in a very special battle royale for billions of Korean won – and for sheer survival. The contestants compete against each other in various children’s games and whoever loses or makes a mistake must pay with their life.
In an interview, Netflix Asia boss Minyoung Kim has now hinted that a video game adaptation of the high-profile hit series is being considered. However, many fans have already pre-empted a possible official game.
Netflix is considering Squid Game game
In an interview with the website The Hollywood Report, Kim spoke about the possible future of the Squid Game brand: while they are in negotiations for a possible second season, the streaming giant is also considering various merchandise products.
It is not known whether this will also include the participants’ green spanish tracksuits, but a video game implementation is an important part of the considerations. However, Kim did not reveal how exactly she envisages a PC implementation. Possibly a title à la Fall Guys would be conceivable, because there, too, the opponents compete against each other in colourful game worlds in comparatively harmless disciplines. However, the action here is far less brutal than in the hit series.
Squid Game can be played right now
If you’re a huge fan and can’t wait for a potential release, you don’t have to. Already, you can replay extremely well working versions of the show and let your inner Gihun Seong run free
Roblox
On the gaming platform Roblox, developers can make their self-created maps and game modes available to all other players for free. An unofficial implementation of Squid Game was of course not long in coming.
You compete here in many children’s games known from the series such as Red Light, Green Light or the Dalgona Game. The game mechanics are very simple, but serve their purpose: in the Tug of War tree, for example, you have to click a button as quickly as possible to pull the opposing team into the abyss.
GTA Online
In the multiplyer perennial GTA Online, resourceful modders have also found a way to recreate some games from the series. You can see what the whole thing looks like on a role-playing server in the following YouTube video:
If you want to take part yourself, you have to download and install the FiveM-Launcher In the game, you will then find a server list where you can filter for different servers – just look for a server with the tag “Squid Game” and nothing should stand in the way of the fun.
