On April 19, Bit Reactor will finally reveal its new Star Wars strategy game. Now, images have been leaked that show where the journey is headed.

Since 2022, we have been waiting very patiently to see what kind of Star Wars game the newly founded studio Bit Reactor is currently working on. The title was announced at the time together with two other games from EA and Respawn. One of them was the already released action-adventure Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the other a first-person shooter that has since been canceled.

Regarding the promised strategy game , there was no news in all this time Now we know that the turn-based tactics game will be presented for the first time on April 19 at the Star Wars Celebration in Chiba (Japan).

But even though it’s still a while before then, the first screenshots have already been leaked:

Star Wars: Enemy Unknown

Even at the announcement, there was great hope that it could well be a tactical game in the spirit of XCOM 2. After all, Bit Reactor consists largely of former Firaxis employees. Now it has almost been confirmed that this is exactly what it will be.

The images scream XCOM Both the representation of the battle, the usual Overwatch cones, and the 95 percent chance of hitting a target and managing an operational base can be found exactly as they are in XCOM. Even the graphic style is strongly reminiscent of the somewhat comic-like XCOM look.

The screenshots were discovered on the website Mp1st, which, according to their own statements, came across the protfolio of an artist at Bit Reactor The screenshots are dated mid-2023 and are therefore already extremely outdated. Especially regarding the interface and menus, a lot will have changed since then.

What the images also reveal

Since the images are quite old, as mentioned, all information from them should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, we summarize a few details that seem interesting to us and that could very well apply to the finished product. However, none of this is guaranteed:

  • The era: The screenshots show a few exciting scenes. At first glance, we find ourselves in the Clone Wars. After all, we see a few classic clone troopers running around here. However, in the screenshots, the troops are apparently enemies of the player, who, in addition to Mandalorians, also has a Jedi in the field. So the game is apparently set after Order 66, but before the Empire’s reign. So maybe we are witnessing the rise of this dictatorship and standing in its way with a resistance force.
  • Familiar Faces:Apparently, a few familiar characters are going into battle. One screenshot shows an image of Bo-Katan Kryze, a Mandalorian woman known to fans from Clone Wars and The Mandalorian. The other Mandalorian could be Paz Vizsla, who also appeared in The Mandalorian. It is not possible to see enough of the Jedi to be sure, but Ahsoka Tano naturally springs to mind when it comes to the Togruta in the image with the base of operations. However, there is no exact evidence for this.
  • Console:The game scenes were apparently recorded on a console, or operated with a gamepad. This is indicated by the button shown in the bottom right corner of one scene, which ends the move. This is the view button of the Xbox controller.

Whether it will all come to pass, we will know in a few weeks when the game is officially revealed. Of course, we will be right there for you, trying to get all the info about the new strategy game. Incidentally, the project name is Bruno, but it is quite certain that the game will have a different name when it is released.

Speaking of release: It’s quite possible that the game will be released this year. It has been in development since at least 2022 and the screenshots from 2023 look quite advanced. But of course, we can’t guarantee that either.
