A well-known insider provides hints about a new Star Wars game from the Detroit and Heavy Rain developers. Nothing confirmed yet.
A simple picture gives Star Wars fans new hope: Leaker Tom Henderson, who has proven to be very well-informed and reliable in the past, provides a not-so-subtle hint on Twitter about a new game from Quantic Dreams.
A character from the game Detroit: Become Human can be seen behind two crossed lightsabers:

Henderson himself doesn’t write a word about it, but leaves likes on all the replies that write about “Star Wars at Quantic Dream”. Would that even be possible? And what kind of game could fans expect from this developer studio?
Quantic Dream is working on the next big game
What has Quantic Dream done so far? The studio is best known for the games Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human, all pure single-player games with a focus on a complex story that can be influenced by decisions. In return, the actual gameplay is usually relatively simple. Quicktime events and dialogues take on an important role, as do the relationships with various NPCs.
What is the studio currently working on? Quantic Dream is still keeping quiet about that. But at least we know that the next AAA game is already in the works. Current job offers from the studio even reveal the first details:
- It will once again be an action-adventure
- It will be a NextGen game (we assume this means PS5 and/or Xbox Series X and not their successors)
- It will be cinematic again
- It will “identify and implement existing visual styles “
- It is currently in the development phase
The fourth point in particular could indeed point to a game based on an existing licence. However, there is no official confirmation yet, so take the info with a grain of salt.
Even if you search your feelings and sense that it is true – the project is still probably in a very early phase. It’s not uncommon for games to be quietly scrapped even before they’ve been announced. “Uncertain is the future of the game”, Master Yoda would say!
Where did the rumours come from? Apart from Henderson, there is currently only one other source reporting on the alleged Star Wars game. The French Youtuber Gautoz claims that Quantic Dream had closed their deal with Sony and are now settling with Disney. Where the info comes from, both leakers don’t say.
Is this credible? At the beginning of 2021 Lucasfilm ended the exclusive deals with EA, which means that other studios can now develop Star Wars games. It is already known that Ubisoft is already sitting on an open-world game. A Kotor remake has also been revealed and many more titles are said to be in the works:

Who is the leaker?
Tom Henderson is better known by the pseudonym LongSensationYT and has proven insider sources in the developer scene. He gained notoriety among CoD fans in 2019 for correctly predicting Modern Warfare’s name and setting, and for predicting a Free2Play Battle Royale spin-off long before Warzone’s release. He also has a direct line to EA and learned info about Battlefield 2042 in advance.
The huge success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has shown that single player has huge potential in Star Wars. So it definitely wouldn’t be out of the question for other developers to venture into story-driven games – and we’re already used to quicktime events in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
Of course, we’ll keep you posted on what’s happening with Star Wars in the future! If you’re hoping for a Mandalorian game, we’ll be taking a closer look at the alleged gameplay leaks.
