Star Wars: Hunters;is a free arena battle shooter. Teams of four characters each fight against each other, taking advantage of their respective class.
The game was released in spring 2024. Initially, the title was only released for the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. With apparently great success. Because developer Zynga recently announced that the game will soon be released on Steam.
Almost 1 million downloads in two days
Shortly after its release, the game’s great success was announced. According to this, Star Wars: Hunters reached almost 1 million downloads in just two days. The app also generated nearly $500,000 from in-game sales – and was among the top 10 most frequently downloaded games in the US and Canada at the beginning of June.
Star Wars Hunters achieved nearly 1 million downloads within the first 48 hours after launch.
It also made nearly half $500,000 from in-game spending.

This success was a major factor in the decision to release Star Wars: Hunters on PC. Says Yaron Leyvan, executive vice president of Games at Zynga (quote via IGN):
The success of Star Wars: Hunters on mobile devices and Nintendo Switch has led to our decision to expand the game to PC. This is something our fan community has been asking for, and we are very excited to welcome even more players to Vespaara. This moment also marks a milestone for Zynga, as it is the first time we are bringing one of our games to PC.
Two playtests planned
The PC version is intended to improve the game technically and visually. This includes higher-resolution textures and higher rendering quality, among other things. In addition, support for keyboard, mouse, and wireless controller will be added.
Early Access is planned for January 27, 2025.However, players can get started before then. From December 13 to 16, 2024, and from January 10 to 13, 2025, two playtests will take place on Steam, for which registrations are currently open – details can be found on the game’s Steam product page.
The press release suggests that Star Wars: Hunters will also be ported to other platforms. However, no details have been provided yet.
So far, Zynga is best known for mobile and social games. The studio developed Farmville and CSR Racing, for example. In 2022, Zynga was bought by GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive – for $12.7 billion.
