Want better graphics for Starfield? This modder allows you to use DLSS right now.

Bethesda’s long-awaited space adventure Starfield isn’t even officially available to all players yet, and yet the game already has a dedicated modding community eagerly working on expansions.

One notable mod released so soon after the Early Access launch is the “(Starfield Upscaler)”, which allows players to add Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling technology to the graphics options.

DLSS in Starfield thanks to Mod

Although Starfield only supports AMD’s FSR technology so far due to a partnership with AMD, modders have already found a solution to bring Nvidia’s DLSS into the game. The Starfield Upscaler, developed by PureDark, offers an alternative by replacing AMD’s FSR with Nvidia’s DLSS.

PureDark has also already provided DLSS for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition.

Why does a modder have to do this? While AMD has announced it will “fully support” Bethesda adding DLSS to Starfield, nothing has happened in that direction yet. Possibly DLSS  will be officially implemented in a future update.

But beware: it is important to note that the Starfield upscaler does not offer better performance than FSR, but it does improve graphics quality.

Install Starfield DLSS-Mod –  here’s how

In order to install the DLSS mod, you need to

  • extract the files of the mod in your Starfield folder
  • move the relevant dll file from (UpscalerBasePlugin) your /mods subdirectory

After that you can activate “FSR” in the Starfield menu, which now actually activates DLSS. You can adjust the settings in the game by pressing the End button.

An interesting fact for players is that using the Starfield Upscaler does not affect the ability to unlock achievements. This means you can enjoy graphical enhancements without sacrificing rewards.

The community is hoping for more modding options and official updates that will further enhance the gameplay experience in the future.

Have you had a chance to play Starfield yet or are you already eagerly waiting? Is the game something for you at all? What do you think about the rating of our test? It would also be interesting to know which mods you would like to see? There are cries in the community for a FOV mod. Do you see a need for one? Feel free to write it in the comments!
