According to a report, Microsoft wants to give up the exclusivity of its games in the future and bring Bethesda’s role-playing game to the PS5

We’re dropping the ball right now: Starfield is to be released for the PlayStation 5 after all, according to a report from XboxEra . This would be an unexpected turn of events after Microsoft never tired of emphasizing the Xbox exclusivity of the role-playing game from Bethesda.

This is still just a rumor – one that goes even further. Microsoft is reportedly planning to release more Xbox games for the PS5 in the future.

Supposedly PS5 devkits already procured

According to XboxEra, Microsoft has already invested in the purchase of numerous PS5 devkits. The PS5 release of Starfield is not said to be imminent, quite the opposite. According to anonymous sources, Microsoft wants to wait for the release of the previously announced DLC Shattered Space.

It is therefore conceivable that PS5 users will be able to purchase a Game of the Year Edition or something similar directly after a long wait.

Indiana Jones, Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves could follow

For a few weeks now, there have already been some tangible indications that other Xbox games such as Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves will also end up on Sony’s console. And there’s more: the recently announced Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is also set to land on the PlayStation 5 one day

Internally, however, the new Microsoft strategy of releasing more and more first-party games for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch is said to be controversial.

No wonder, as this would be a tough change of course on Microsoft ‘s partafter years of trying to lure new customers to the Xbox with exclusive games. Before the release of Starfield, Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, advertised the platform exclusivity at a showcase

Game exclusivity is and remains the means of choice in the console sector to attract users to a platform and retain them in the long term. Nintendo is the most famous example of this, as Mario and co. can only be found on the company’s own devices with a few exceptions.

Sony is also known for seeing its own brands such as Horizon, God of War, The Last of Us and Gran Turismo as the most important driving force behind the success of the PlayStation.

However, according to the XboxEra report, Microsoft is set to take a different direction in the future for financial reasons in order to sell as many games as possible

If you’re a PlayStation 5 user, you’re probably wondering: Hmm, Hi-Fi Rush, is it any good? And how much fun is Sea of Thieves after all these years? What can I expect in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle? And who the hell is putting these questions in my mouth? Am I the puppet of a crazy author? Then we say: Yes!
