New videos show that the towns and locations in Starfield will be much more varied than in Skyrim.

The highly anticipated open-world role-playing game Starfield has not yet made an appearance at gamescom 2021. But those who signed up for the Constellation newsletter on the official website have now been provided with some new info: in the current issue, three YouTube videos have now been shared that reveal new details about the cities.

How different the locations will be

The first thing that immediately jumps out at you: The new cities are much more varied than in Skyrim. There are architectural differences in the large cities, but some elements appear again and again. Everything has a rather Nordic flair. Strafield is much wilder.

The description of the inhabitants and factions, however, gives us an idea that we can expect another conflict between two large factions, similar to the civil war in Skyrim between the Imperials and the Stormcloaks.

Neon

Neon is an amusement city built in the middle of the ocean. Originally, Neon was a giant fishing platform built by the Xenofresh Corporation. After a new species of fish with psychoactive properties was discovered in their catches, the industrial city became Neon in its current form. The drug extracted from the fish is called Aurora and is only legal at its place of production, which is why travellers from all over the universe come here. Neon is somewhat reminiscent of the water worlds of Kamino and Manaan from the Star Wars universe.

New Atlantis

New Atlantis is the capital of the United Colonies (U.C.), the most powerful faction in terms of military and politics in the entire Starfield universe. The huge metropolis is a place where humans and all kinds of alien races live together. According to the developers, New Atlantis represents the developers’ vision of how they imagine Earth in the distant future. Whether aliens will really live here someday is of course questionable – but the futuristic skyscrapers are quite conceivable.

Akila

The last city shown is very different from the other two: Akila is the capital of the Freestar Collective, a loose federation of three independent star systems. The architecture of the desert city is much less advanced, similar to Tatooine from Star Wars. Here, too, humans and aliens live together peacefully, but are held together by a shared belief in personal freedom and individuality. Akila is enclosed by high walls because outside the gates lurk nasty alien beasts called Ashta, which you can imagine as a cross between a wolf and a velociraptor.
